Managing Menopause with Ashwagandha
Menopause is defined as the ending of monthly menstruation in a woman's life time, triggered when the cells in the ovary that form eggs for conception are gone. Typically occurring sometime between ages 47-52, menopause can also be induced by surgical removal of the ovaries (e.g., during a hysterectomy) or by a hormonal imbalance at an earlier age.55

Research conducted in India indicates that ashwagandha, in combination with other herbs, can help relieve the symptoms of menopause. It does so by stimulating estrogen production, boosting the immune system, and protecting against damage from free radicals. In addition, ashwagandha's proven mood-balancing effects can help improve psychological symptoms associated with menopause.55, 56
